Adam’s artwork is all about that mysterious present which has been sitting under the tree for days. Full of excitement and mild panic, you wonder: what’s in there? Will I love it? Or will I have to pretend to love it? Either way, it’s bound to burst out and surprise you.

This wonderful “blob” Christmas tree was created by Mia, age 9. It consists of six colourful blobs with googly eyes piled high on one another, bringing plenty of humour and good cheer.

Angela Kirkwood

Angela is an illustrator and animation director who likes to create surreal worlds filled with zany characters. For her tree, Angela was inspired by a childhood memory of a singing, dancing Christmas tree decoration — something she found both mesmerising and horrifying in equal measure.

Ayodi family

The Ayodis are a Parisian family living in London. They love to spend time together, so their tree is inspired by cosy family moments at home. It’s wrapped in a giant red scarf and decorated with little mugs and candles, to represent Christmas warmth.

Ben Wallace

As a gay illustrator, Ben wanted to capture the camp essence of the festive season. And he thought drag queens, as figureheads of the LGBTQ+ community, perfectly embody that spirit. With his joyous design, queer people are celebrated and seen at a time that can feel lonely for many.

Charlotte Roberts

Charlotte is a skilled make-up artist inspired by film, beauty and fine art, known for hyperreal detail and bold colour design. Her barbed-tinsel Christmas tree blends elegance with edge, highlighting her distinctive, concept-driven style.

Charline Fabry

Charline designed a colourful tree with pink and blue leopards weaving through festive jungle patterns. Sparkling Christmas lights bring warmth and magic, inviting viewers to follow the playful journey to the very top.

Evelyn Seng

Forget baubles, this creation has cable cars. Evelyn’s tree is a snowy mountain decorated with frosted pines, cosy huts and tiny skiers zipping down the slopes. With vibrant colours and fluffy snow-like textures, she hopes to bring the festive magic of the winter holidays to Battersea.

Francesca Perks

Francesca is a content creator whose Christmas tree design revives a childhood memory: her hand-drawn tree topper that won a local competition to sit on the town’s tree in 2001. She has digitised and updated the design for 2025, blending nostalgia with her modern decorating style.

Hayden Williams

Hayden is a British fashion illustrator, designer and author. Self-taught since childhood, he started sharing sketches on social media, which has led to worldwide brand partnerships. His tree is inspired by festive, whimsical glamour. It has a vintage yet modern feel.

Henry Fraser

Henry is a mouth artist, author and speaker. Paralysed from the shoulders down after dislocating his neck in 2009, he now paints using only his mouth. Henry’s tree is painted using fast, abstract strokes — starting with large marks, then building smaller ones and more colours on top.

Jack Dubben

Jack’s tree is decorated with an array of baubles of different shapes, patterns and colours, together making up a beautiful, balanced composition. As you look closer, the characters of London start to reveal themselves. Jack wanted his tree to convey a simple message: Happy Christmas!

Kulay Labitigan

Kulay named this tree “Optimistic Blossoms” — a kaleidoscopic image of various exotic flora thriving and growing from the same vivid tree. It’s a message of kindness; that even on a cold dark night there is promise, hope and diversity.

Kylie Minogue

Kylie is an Australian singer, songwriter, actor and one of the bestselling solo recording artists of all time. Her tree reflects her status as a music icon with its effortless glamour and tinsel that sings (not literally, but by spelling out the letters “la la la”).

Lakwena

Lakwena is a multidisciplinary artist making joyful, gently subversive work that encompasses themes of power, hope and paradise. She created a tropical tree using beads including banana, flower and heart motifs, as a celebration of play, joy and nostalgia.

Lucy Dixon

Lucy’s tree is inspired by prepping vegetables on Christmas morning, using stippling to show the layered, organic texture of Brussels sprouts. She entered the competition as an illustrator and painter because her iPad has been an important part of her practice throughout her career.

Maro Itoje

Maro is an English professional rugby union player who plays as a lock for Premiership club Saracens, and one of the most respected athletes in the sport. Art wasn’t his strong point at school, he says, but he had a lot of fun doing this tree, choosing bright, inspiring colours to put himself in the Christmas spirit.

Matt Joyce

Matt’s tree is a celebration of friendship — the friends who support you, make you laugh and ultimately make you a better person. The friends who see your faults yet stick around. The friends we choose as family and form new traditions with.

Miah D.B.

This tree was made by Miah, age 7. It took Miah forever to work out what to do, but finally she decided to go with the flow and keep calm. She woke up early one day and just started drawing. She drew one face, then another, and the final design has several faces all piled on top of one another.

Mister Hope

Mister Hope is a lover of all things fantasy, particularly giants, goblins, elves and gnomes. Battersea Power Station seemed like the perfect space for a giant to occupy, so this particular tree uses size to his advantage.

Munya Chawawa

Munya is a trailblazer in comedy, blending sharp satire with absurdity. Known for viral sketches and thought-provoking commentary, he’s amassed over a billion views and 3 million followers. His tree is brimming with energy, with an eclectic array of characters bringing their own distinct charm.

Murugiah

Murugiah is a British Sri Lankan artist, illustrator and designer. Using a colourfully surreal visual aesthetic he mischieviously explores the macabre, bittersweet and joyful experience of daily life. Kawaii characters are a playful part of his creative world, so it seemed fun to have one for Christmas.

Things I have drawn

Tom is the dad behind @thingsihavedrawn, which imagines a world where the things kids draw are real. The elements drawn by his co‑designers, Olivia and Margaux (aged 8 and 4), play the starring role in the overall design. You won’t see another Christmas tree as gloriously wonky as this one.

Nermin Syuleymanova

Nermin’s tree character reflects her personality and her emotions. Simple lines and flowing colours reveal her quiet energy and joyful spirit, and other hidden feelings are conveyed in the character’s face and posture.

Nygilia McClain

Nygilia’s design reimagines the traditional Christmas tree through a celestial lens, and the result is an expression of “otherworldly imagination”, with its unconventional, vessel-like form. This piece stands as a tribute to creative form and captures a sense of cosmic joy.

Oliver Jeffers

Based between Belfast and Brooklyn, Oliver is an award-winning artist and author whose work seeks to shift perspectives about our world. Through art and storytelling, Oliver encourages audiences of all ages to see the world differently, so his tree is made up entirely of sea creatures.

Paul Brown

Paul’s tree is linear and slightly abstract, made up of 15 different layers in Procreate. Even the baubles are divided into a few different layers to carefully add some interest to an animated version. Mainly though it’s graphic, bold and bright.

Pedro Garlaschi

The baubles on this tree double up as characterful, playful little monsters, each one looking out at Battersea through a single googly eye.

Phoebe

Phoebe’s tree is green, shaggy and full of festive cheer, with classic red baubles and a cheeky red-nosed reindeer peeking out through its pine needles.

Jamie Freeth

Jamie loves to use words and typography in his drawings, and really enjoyed adding them here to build a Christmas tree. At first the tree appears to be just abstract, graphic shapes, but then the message reveals itself: Good will to all.

Pietro Spina

Pietro reimagines the Christmas tree through vibrant peacock feathers — a symbol of joy and celebration. It reflects Battersea’s architecture and transforms festive light into a swirl of colour, energy and modern creativity.

Polina’s playful Christmas tree is inspired by Big Ben and the way London lights up so beautifully during the festive season. She loves exploring the city at this time of year and wanted to capture the magic by getting creative on iPad.

Sam Wilde

Sam created a fruit-themed Christmas tree inspired by the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden. As seen through Eve’s eyes, the forbidden fruits are swollen with light and weigh heavy with temptation. The branches rise like a ladder, pointing up towards the star fruit
that sits on top.

Samantha created a vibrant geometric design for her tree, symbolising growth and connection. She’s embracing new opportunities in memory of her younger sister Georgina, who passed away in 2023. By saying yes to more things, she’s honouring Georgina’s adventurous spirit.

David Shrigley

As one of the UK’s most-loved artists, Turner Prize–nominated David Shrigley OBE creates instantly recognisable artworks that regularly feature in both prestigious galleries and viral social feeds. His humorous drawings push the boundaries of expectation, and his tree design is no different.

Stephen Fry

Stephen is an English actor, screenwriter, author, playwright, journalist, poet, comedian, television presenter, film director and a hundred per cent Faithful. He designed a tree with narrow branches that point upwards because that’s what they do. How else would the baubles stay on?

Susan Birchall

Susan always loved Battersea Power Station when she passed it on the train. And after she had a digital tree grown from her own heartbeat projected onto the Eiffel Tower in 2015, she liked the idea of having her artwork, a bright neon tree, projected onto another building she admired.

Takako Copeland

Takako’s tree turns Battersea’s riverside towers into giant climbing walls. She thought the bold colours and shapes of a climbing wall would make a great Christmas tree, and with it she’s fulfilling her dream of seeing her work projected onto something very, very big.

Varsha Simha

Varsha doesn’t celebrate Christmas, but the idea of gifts and snow still excites her. This competition was a way for her to be part of the festive atmosphere. “Snuggle tree” is inspired by the cosiness of the season, with Santa’s minions cuddling up to form a tree warm enough to hug back.

Yeva

Yeva’s Christmas tree is a rainbow tree. Rainbows come after rain and they symbolise hope and a new beginning, just like Christmas gives hope to many. She drew a bright sun, three tiny birds and a little forest so her tree feels even happier.

Yonk

YONK, a 3D animation studio known for playful character design, brought its own 3D Christmassy creation to life for Battersea this year — transforming the humble tree into a charming character, brimming with festive spirit.
